As a Speech-Language Pathologist, Mikayla provides comprehensive speech and language evaluations, individualized plans of care, and intervention for children at HealthCall. Mikayla graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science from Grand Valley State University in 2012 in Allied Health Sciences and Speech-Language Pathology, as well as a minor in psychology. After her time at GVSU, she then obtained her Master’s of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology in 2014 from Cleveland State University, in which the majority of her rotations included ASD with behavior management. Mikayla has worked in a multitude of settings, with age groups from birth until end of life. She has 5 years of both director and mentor experience, specializing in AAC (augmentative and alternative communication), dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), selective mutism, and early childhood language development. Mikayla is certified through the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and was published to Marquis Maker’s List of 2021 (Marquis Who’s Who in America). Specialized credentials include: certification as a Certified Myofunctional Therapist (CMT) and certification through DTTC (Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing) for treatment of childhood apraxia of speech. She is passionate about providing children with a voice and means to communicate, as well as providing families with the support and guidance required to enhance all aspects of communication.
